Tour Details
Accommodations
Max Travel Abroad tours use centrally located small hotels which are usually locally owned and operated. Let Max Travel know when booking your tour if you would like something other than a double room. One month prior to departure each traveler will receive an itinerary with the address of the hotel(s) in the itinerary.

The cost for the tour is based on sharing a room with double occupancy, 2 people in one hotel room, however, our accommodations can come in various types based on request.
​

-Solo travelers of the same gender are assigned to shared rooms with twin beds at no extra, and we rotate roommates at each hotel if there are multiple solo travelers.

- Single supplement is for one person in a private single rooms, for an additional fee, however, single rooms are usually the smallest and most basic type of room.

- Couples or travel buddies, can choose between rooms with one double bed or two twin beds, while twin rooms with two twin-size beds are ideal for friends and siblings.

- Triple rooms typically have one double bed and couch made as a single bed or a twin bed.

Size Matters
Small group size means bigger flexibility & authenticity
​Max Travel Abroad offers a unique tour experience that sets us apart with two distinctive differences for this Max Christmas Market and New Year's Eve Holiday tour for 2024. We will limit the group size to 6-8 travelers, which allows us to provide a more personalized and flexible tour. We will focus on using local public transportation withing the city including subways, street cars, and local uses. This will give you the opportunity to explore the destinations like a local European, yet still have the ease of direct transportation. Our small group size is one of the aspects of Max that sets us apart. Small group tour size allows for a more personalized experience and the opportunity to connect with local, authentic, experiences.

Physical Demands
Our knowledgeable tour leaders will guide you through the European transportation systems, ensuring that you can navigate with confidence and make the most of your trip. There will be a moderate amount of walking each day, 5-8 miles with some stairs and hills.
The temperatures in December can be mild to cold, mid 40’s F to low 30’s F. Christmas markets and New Year's Eve events are nearly are all outdoors with walking in the cold, and often standing to eat or drink. Dressing warm to stand and walk in the cold will be essential.

Meals
Breakfasts will be provided by the hotel accommodation. Additional meals included, as listed in the itinerary, will feature local and regional typical menus, with the option for each traveler to order to their tastes, and any dietary exclusions. The included group meals included in the tour price to not include drinks.
​
Throughout the tour, you'll have the chance to try the local cuisine which is unique to each region and can differ greatly from country to country. Travelers can order off the restaurant menu to suit their tastes, within the price guidelines as directed by the Max tour leader. Local beer, wine and spirits may be available at the restaurant however Max group meals do not include alcohol. You are welcome to order an alcohol beverage, but you'll need to cover the cost yourself.

On-Ground Transportation
From the first hotel to the last, Max guides will arrange all transportation. We focus on using local public transportation, including national and regional trains, ferry boats, and local buses, which gives you the opportunity to explore the destinations like a local European. Our small group size is one of the aspects of Max that sets us apart. Small group tour size allows for a more personalized experience and the opportunity to connect with local, authentic, experiences. Max Tours can arrange airport transfers to/from your hotel for an additional cost.

Flights are not included
Our tour prices don't include airfare. Your flight arrangements are completely up to you. When planning your flights to Vienna from the USA, keep in mind that most flights arrive the day following departure. Max Travel Abroad does not earn commissions from Airlines, however will arrange flights for any traveler for a fee of $30 per airline ticket.

Tour price guarantee
The base price for this tour is based on a minimum of 6 travelers. The base price will be guaranteed the moment we receive your deposit, however if 60 days prior to the trip departure the number of people in the tour group increases or decreases, the price of the trip will fluctuate. A minimum of 6 travelers are required for the trip to ‘make.’ For further information on Max Tour Abroad policies read the Tour Conditions document, located as a link at the end of the page of this website.

Deposit
To guarantee your spot in the trip, $400 deposit is required. The deposit is applied to your total trip cost.
As soon as your deposit is received your money is put to work on your behalf. It will be applied by MAX to hold the rooms for the accommodations on the trip, make travel reservations, and secure plans for the trip.
Tour Expectations for every traveler in the group
Here are some important details to keep in mind before joining a MAX tour:
1. You'll need to be able to carry your own luggage over uneven streets, carry it up stairs, and be comfortable with walking for a couple of hours, possibly up 2-10 miles a day.
2. If you need physical assistance, you'll need to bring an able companion, as the tour guides can't provide help with these activities. Also, accommodations in Austria often are not be wheelchair accessible or ADA compliant.
3. Be prepared for changing weather conditions. You'll need to walk to your destinations in all weather conditions and sleep in hotels with no or inadequate air conditioning, possible street noise, and slow or limited access to Wi-Fi.
4. You'll need to follow all safety precautions and health directives set by your guide, MAX, or local officials. This includes wearing a mask, washing your hands, and taking a COVID test if required.
5. Smoking or vaping is not allowed in any transportation or hotel, and you'll need to be respectful of others.
6. If you're traveling alone, you'll be assigned a same-sex roommate, but you can pay extra for a private room if available.
7. It's recommended to get international travel health and trip insurance to be covered in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
8. Bring one main piece of luggage (we strongly recommend carry-on size 21" x 14" x 9"), plus one smaller day pack or shoulder bag, all of which you will have to carry yourself, no matter how tired you are. MAX will provide a pre-trip organizer list that includes tips for packing light and creatively.
9. While on the tour, if you sustain an injury or become sick, our guides will provide assistance to get you medical assistance, within the limits of your individual international health insurance plan coverage (not included in the MAX tour) however if you opted not to have international health insurance then our guide will assist you to get local medical assistance however you will be 100% responsible for the medical costs and any required costs from adjusting your travel plans if necessary.
